TOP MESSAGE

Creating New Value through the Power of People and Technology
ー Focusing on Growth Areas and Enhancing Human Capital ー

Representative Director, President and CEO
Hideo Izumi

To Everyone,

We would like to express our sincere gratitude for your continued support.

The global economy remains highly uncertain, with rising geopolitical risks, tariff and supply chain restructuring, and unstable supply of the semiconductor and changing EV markets—all contributing to significant changes in the environment surrounding our company. Amid these circumstances, a year and a half has passed since we launched our management restructuring in fiscal year 2024. We have been steadily advancing the reconfiguration of our business portfolio and reallocating capital to growth areas, guided by the principle of “selection and concentration.”

While streamlining non-core and unprofitable businesses, we are focusing capital on growth domains such as sensing and mobility, driving the evolution of our business portfolio. These areas represent the core of our vision—“Shaping a future where technology extends your senses.”—and are positioned as key revenue drivers going forward. In the mobility segment, against the backdrop of in-vehicle digitalization, we are accelerating the shift toward software-driven business models to adapt to the era of Software-Defined Vehicles (SDVs), viewing the transformation of the automotive industry as a new business opportunity. In the sensor and communication segment, we are pursuing high value-added solutions by leveraging AI and edge processing technologies, while also addressing emerging demand in human-assist and robotics markets, which are increasingly essential in a smart society. Furthermore, in the components segment, we aim to expand our stable earnings base through restructuring of development and production systems and implementing quality reforms.

At the same time, based on our belief that “leveraging human talent is our greatest strength,” we have positioned investment in people as a core pillar of our mid-term strategy. The outcomes of structural reforms and technological innovation are driven by the wisdom and actions of each employee. We are revising our education framework and HR systems, strengthening digital skills training, global leadership development, and specialized professional programs. By placing a cycle of learning, challenge, and achievement at the heart of our management approach, we will build human capital as the source of competitiveness and corporate value.

Through these initiatives, we aim to achieve a PBR of 1.0 or higher by fiscal year 2026 and an ROE of 10% by fiscal year 2027. By leveraging both financial and human capital, we will realize sustainable growth and strive to remain a company that walks alongside society into the future. We kindly ask for your continued understanding and warm support.

The Mid-Term Management Plan 2027

Q

Is the foundation of the medium-term management plan built upon the structural reform period?

A

Originally, in 2024, we cancelled the second medium-term management plan in order to shift the direction of cost structure reforms and the new business portfolio transformation, positioning this period as a phase of structural reform.
Through cost structure reforms, we successfully secured ¥30 billion and continued to implement cost reductions across our overseas sites. Starting in 2025, we launched a three-year medium-term management plan, linking cost structure improvements with site reorganization. The framework is now taking shape.

Q

What is the most important KPI in the Medium-Term Management Plan 2027?

A

Our primary focus is on enhancing ROE. Instead of pursuing sheer growth in revenue or operating profit, we are committed to improving capital efficiency as a key driver of corporate value.

Vice President Head of ESG and Legal Mayumi Kiriu

Sustainability

Q

What is the current status of renewable energy utilization?

A

Our approach to renewable energy utilization is primarily through the purchase of renewable energy certificates. This effort is in response to customer requirements, and we are proactively adopting these measures to meet market expectations and contribute to sustainability goals.

Corporate Governance

Q

What is the current status regarding the transition from a Management Board to a Monitoring Board?

A

We are advancing governance reforms to shift from a management-oriented board to a monitoring-focused board. Key initiatives include revising the attendance of executive officers at Board meetings to strengthen monitoring, and redefining submission standards for both the Board of Directors and the Executive Officers’ Committee to ensure a strict separation of execution and supervision.

Human Resource Strategy

Q

Please share the measures your company is taking to encourage male employees to take childcare leave

A

With a strong focus on diversity, we are promoting the active participation of women, senior employees, and persons with disabilities, which has also helped deepen understanding of childcare leave within the organization. Moving forward, we aim to further enhance the quality of these initiatives by encouraging employees to take substantial childcare leave of one month or longer.

Q

I would like to learn about initiatives to increase the ratio of women in managerial positions.

A

Currently, there are very few women in senior roles, so we are strengthening development efforts while also improving compensation to make managerial positions more attractive. We are also working to increase the proportion of women in new graduate recruitment, but the reality is that it is still insufficient.
We are evolving activities that enable all employees to work energetically, express their individuality, contribute to the organization, and have those contributions reflected in evaluations.

Q

Please tell me about the use of generative AI.

A

Our company has introduced secure environments for generative AI utilization, such as MS Copilot and AWS, for AI development and application.
In addition, we are promoting on-site AI adoption through initiatives like generative AI communities and AI utilization exchange meetings.

Q

Will the company hold virtual-only shareholder meetings? Are there any plans to do so in the future?

A

Following recent legal amendments, it has become possible to hold so-called “virtual-only” shareholder meetings, which are conducted entirely online without a physical venue. However, our company currently considers it premature to implement virtual-only shareholder meetings, as we place great importance on face-to-face dialogue with our shareholders. Every year, we provide on-demand streaming of the shareholder meeting from the day after the meeting until the end of September.

In fiscal year 2025, we will continue to engage in constructive dialogue with our shareholders and investors and strive to enhance corporate value.
